Employment Services / Servicios de Empleo

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
This program offers services, activities and support to help individuals prepare for employment or find employment. These services and activities include assessing participant’s interests, evaluating current skills to help develop short and long-term goals, writing a resume, completing job applications, preparing for job interviews and improving communication and interpersonal skills to help obtain and maintain a job. Once employed, program staff will follow-up to assess employment status and to offer additional support, if needed.
Adult Basic Education / Educación Básica para Adultos

ADULT LITERACY / PRE-HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY TEST (HISET) PROGRAM
This program is designed for adults who are reading below the ninth-grade level. In addition to basic skills like reading and writing, these programs can help students gain vocational skills, such as those that may be needed for some of the occupational programs offered at Tec Centro Capital Region.
HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY TEST (HISET) PREPARATION COURSE
HISET prep classes help adults earn a high school equivalency diploma upon passing the HISET test. These classes allow adults to learn and practice subject areas that they need to improve upon before taking the test. The HISET measures knowledge in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science. The course utilizes online resources and preparation materials, traditional textbooks and electronic assignments.
English as a Second Language (ESL) / Inglés como Segundo Idioma
Cost: FREE
Tec Centro Capital Region believes that the foundation to better employment starts with clear and professional communication. Our ESL classes empower language learners to develop their English language skills in a setting that is appropriate to the needs of the students depending on their proficiency levels - basic, intermediate, or advanced.
ENGLISH BASIC ESL LEVEL
The Basic level is designed for students with little to no knowledge of English. In this course, students will develop their vocabulary and practice reading, writing, and speaking in common situations to build their language competency and confidence.
INTERMEDIATE ESL LEVEL
In the Intermediate class, students will continue building their vocabulary, grammar and English speaking skills with the goal of becoming more comfortable and proficient in their speaking abilities.
ADVANCED ESL LEVEL
This Advanced course helps students, with a good command of English, continue to improve their skills and achieve a measured reading level in order to improve their employment status or to qualify for occupational skills training that require English language proficiency to a specific reading level.
Basic Computer Skills / Habilidades Básicas de Computación

BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS
In our modern computer labs, you will learn how to safely use, research and communicate with computers and related technologies. You will also learn the basics of common software programs, such as Microsoft products, that can help increase both your value as an employee and your employment opportunities.
Allied Health Occupations / Profesiones de Asistencia Médica
Cost: FREE TUITION, $50 Registration Fee
Provider: Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC)
CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE
The Nurse Aide training program is a 120 hour program that prepares a student to become a vital member of the health care team. This program will train you for work in a healthcare organization, long term care facility or with a home health company. Program topics include how to bathe/shower and dress a resident, denture care, how to properly feed a resident, how to get them safely into or out of a bed or chair, privacy, infection control and resident rights.
Students successfully completing this program receive a certificate of completion from HACC. They will also be eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) examination administered by Credentia.
Upon passing both the NNAAP written and skills performance exam, the student is placed on the PA Nurse Aide Registry. A student who successfully completes the nurse aide training program can be employed for 120 days before they must take the NNAAP examination.
CERTIFIED CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT
The Medical Assistant program is 336 hour program that prepares a student to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). This program will train you to work in a hospital, doctor’s office, or outpatient health center.
The program includes an introduction to healthcare, medical terminology, anatomy, human illness and disease and essential skills training. Medical Assistants help with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information for medical records. Medical Assistants may be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
Students successfully completing this program will receive a certificate of completion from HACC. They will also be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification examination and be prepared to work as an entry-level medical assistant.
CERTIFIED PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN
The Certified Phlebotomy Technician program includes 100 hours of classroom/lab instruction and concludes with an 80-hour clinical/externship experience. This program will train you to work in various healthcare settings.
Phlebotomy technicians are critical team members in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and physician offices. They draw blood from patients, explain the blood-drawing procedure to patients, obtain urine and other specimens for testing, and maintain medical equipment and supplies. Students learn proper blood-drawing and specimen collection technique, lab safety protocols and infection control, proper requisitioning methods, and specimen transportation and processing.
Students successfully completing this program will receive a certificate of completion from HACC and be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification examination.
Skilled Trades Occupations /
Ocupaciones en Oficios Especializados

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
This 24-week program prepares participants for employment opportunities in residential, commercial, and institutional settings. The program includes essential skills training in addition to HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, carpentry, and more.
Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to pursue OSHA, EPA and other select skills-based certifications.
COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL / ELECTRO-MECHANICAL
This 24-week program provides the opportunity to acquire the theory and skills needed to gain employment in the manufacturing, and factory setting as an entry-level industrial maintenance technician with basic skills in mechanical systems, and electrical systems. The programs include essential skills training. Students of the commercial and industrial electrical program will be able to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment most used in today’s high-tech manufacturing facilities.
Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to pursue OSHA certification.
COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL PLUMBING
This 24-week program prepares students to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in new and existing commercial and industrial buildings or structures with industrial-grade fixtures, pipes, and outlets. Some of the skills acquired are joining different types of piping materials and installing and repairing industrial-grade pipes, plumbing fixtures, faucets, and water heaters. The program includes essential skills training. Employment opportunities in the commercial and industrial plumbing industry can range from basic office buildings to large-scale buildings/complexes, factories, hospitals, malls, and manufacturing facilities.
Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to pursue OSHA certification.
COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL HEATING, VENTILATION & AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) This 24-week program prepares students for employment in this fast-growing field. Students learn essential skills, current methods of identifying and performing efficiency evaluations on various types of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems for large buildings or structures such as hospitals, schools, and housing structures.
Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion and be eligible to pursue OSHA and EPA certifications.
